Tatopani border to open for three days from today

Kathmandu, October 18: The Tatopani border trade pass with China will remain open for three days, from today, October 18, to October 20. The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies announced that the border point would be open from Kartik 1 to 3.

According to the ministry, only cargo vehicles stuck in the Chinese side will be allowed to cross the border during this period. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Deepak Kumar Sah said the Chinese side had decided to temporarily reopen the crossing in response to a request from Nepal.

The temporary reopening is expected to facilitate Nepal-China trade and help ensure the smooth supply of goods during the festive season.

The Tatopani border trade pass has remained closed since Bhadra 15. The government had been making efforts to reopen the crossing.

As the Tatopani border pass is closer to Kathmandu, the Nepal government should request and persuade the Chinese side to keep both the Tatopani and Rasuwagadhi border trade passes open year-round to promote Nepal-China trade.
