
Gorkha, Oct 11: Flooding in the Budhigandaki River has swept away six bridges and left at least 10 people unaccounted for.
Assistant Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said two road bridges and four suspension bridges had been washed away.
The road bridges linked Arughat with Tripurasundari in Dhading, and Soti with Manbu in Arughat, he said.
The flood also swept away a Bailey bridge connecting wards 1 and 3 of Dharche Rural Municipality. Other bridges lost included the suspension bridge between Machhikhola and Kerauja, the bridge connecting Thado Bharyang and Jagat in Chumnubri, and the suspension bridge linking Ghattekhola and Philim in Sirdibas.
Around 35 houses in Paiyun and Bagar in ward 3 of Chumnubri Rural Municipality were also washed away. Jagat, Salleri, Dovan and Ghattekhola villages sustained damage.
