
Kathmandu, October 8: The 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Mobile Phone Importers Association held in Kathmandu today unanimously elected a new executive committee under the chairmanship of Deepak Kumar Malhotra.
Malhotra delivered his welcome address, whereas, Vice Chairman Sanjay Agrawal presented the Association’s annual progress report, while Treasurer Prabhakar Shamsher Thapa presented the annual financial report. During the meeting, members shared their views, suggestions, and opinions on the Association’s performance, emerging challenges in the mobile phone business, common concerns of industry stakeholders, and the Association’s future course of action. The AGM elected Executive Committee comprised of Sanjay Agrawal as Vice Chairman, Prabhakar Shamsher Thapa as Secretary, and Rachit Kumar Bhimsaria as Treasurer. Similarly, Sunil Agrawal, Pulkit Bhimsaria, Nitesh Kumar Mundhra, Pragyaat Timilsina, and Anamitra Sharma have been unanimously elected as executive members.
Following the election, newly elected Chair Malhotra expressed his gratitude to all members and office-bearers for their support in ensuring a unanimous selection of the new leadership. He reaffirmed his commitment to making the mobile phone business sector more organized, ethical, transparent, and accountable. He also emphasized the importance of effective coordination and collaboration with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to address the common challenges faced by businesses. Similarly, newly elected Vice Chairman Agrawal stated that the Association would prioritize institutional strengthening, the sustainable development of the mobile phone industry, and the creation of a well-organized market. He highlighted key priorities, including improving mobile phone distribution systems and market management, controlling unauthorized imports (the grey market), promoting the effective implementation of the Mobile Device Management System (MDMS), strengthening coordination and collaboration with umbrella organizations, protecting the rights and interests of businesses, and safeguarding consumer interests.
He further expressed the Association’s commitment to playing an active role in making the mobile phone business sector more organized, transparent, and competitive by fostering stronger coordination and collaboration among the private sector, government agencies, and relevant stakeholders.
In closing, Chair Malhotra thanked all members, office-bearers, and participants for their support in successfully conducting the AGM and formally concluded the meeting.
