
Kathmandu, October 8: Deepchandra Regmi has been promoted to the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of Global IME Bank Limited.
He was promoted to the position following a decision of the bank’s Board of Directors meeting held on Tuesday.
Regmi, the newly appointed DCEO, was previously serving as Assistant Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) of the bank.
Regmi began his banking career at Standard Chartered Bank Nepal in 2007 and joined Global IME Bank in 2009. He has served as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Chief Lending Officer (CLO) and Head of Trade Finance.
He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global IME Capital Limited, a subsidiary of the bank.
Regmi holds Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, and Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.
Meanwhile, Buddhi Akela has been promoted to the position of Assistant Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) of Global IME Bank Limited. He was previously serving as Deputy General Manager of the bank.
Akela has more than 22 years of experience in the banking sector. He began his banking career as a Deputy Manager at Nepal Bank Limited in 2004 and has been continuously associated with Global IME Bank since 2006.
During his long banking career, he has competently handled key responsibilities in areas including integrated risk management, business expansion, branch operations, credit administration and internal audit. Until his promotion, he was serving as the bank’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO).
In addition, Akela has been serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, a subsidiary of the bank.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Pokhara University.
The bank said it believes Akela’s extensive experience, expertise in risk management and overall operational capabilities will make a significant contribution to making the bank’s service delivery more effective, secure and quality-oriented in the days ahead.
