Kathmandu, Sept 12: The Balen Shah-led government has appointed 63 officeholders and advisers to various ministries, commissions, authorities, boards and public institutions in nearly five months.
Since the government was formed on March 27, 2026 (Chait 13, 2082 BS), it has made 63 appointments through 43 Cabinet decisions up to August 19, 2026 (Bhadra 3, 2083 BS).
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers provided the official details of the appointments in response to information sought by House of Representatives member Sita Thapaliya.
The verified list shows appointments ranging from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat to regulatory bodies, financial institutions, public enterprises and development committees. The details do not include appointments made after August 19.
The government appointed Kumar Vyanjankar as the Prime Minister’s chief adviser, Asim Shah as political adviser, Sudip Dhakal as adviser for policy, administration and good governance, Bibek Mishra as adviser for information and communication technology, and Prof. Dr. Jagadish Prasad Agrawal as honorary health adviser.
Likewise, Dr. Gunakar Bhatta was appointed vice chairman of the National Planning Commission, along with six other members. Kiran Pandit and Dirgha Bahadur Rawal were appointed deputy governors of Nepal Rastra Bank.
The government also appointed new leadership to several key economic and regulatory bodies. Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta was appointed chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal, while Yangki Ukyab was appointed chief executive officer of the Investment Board. Arjun Ghimire was appointed chairperson of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, Mukesh Dangol director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, and Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital chairperson of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, along with three commission members.
Appointments were also made to senior executive positions at major public institutions, including the Citizen Investment Trust, Employees Provident Fund, Nepal Oil Corporation, Nepal Airlines Corporation, Security Printing Centre and Nepal Railway Company.
During the same period, officeholders were appointed to the Press Council Nepal, Gorkhapatra Corporation, University Grants Commission, Medical Education Commission and Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre. Various health councils and development committees also received new officeholders.
