SCT partners with City Tech

Kathmandu, April 6: Smart Choice Technologies (SCT) has signed a strategic partnership agreement with City Tech Group Pvt. Ltd. to collaborate in the digital payments sector. This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening, modernizing, and enhancing the efficiency of payment acceptance systems.

Following this partnership, City Tech’s hardware (FinPOS) will support payment acceptance through SCT’s platform. This will enable support for various card schemes (such as Visa, UnionPay, NepalPay, etc.) as well as digital payments through SmartQR for Dynamic QR transactions.

Through this partnership, SCT’s robust payment infrastructure will be integrated with City Tech’s latest technology to provide modern, user-friendly, and scalable POS devices for banks and merchants.

Banks, financial institutions, and payment service providers interested in POS acquiring businesses can benefit from this service. Since there is no need for separate memberships with different card schemes, additional technological investments, or security certifications, this solution will be highly cost-effective for these institutions.

SCT remains committed to expanding digital payment systems, increasing accessibility, and promoting innovation. The partnership with FinPOS is an important step in fulfilling this commitment.

Currently, SCT is issuing SCT-UnionPay cards through 24 banks and financial institutions, as well as over 100 cooperatives. Through its own card switching system, Smart Switch, SCT issues SCT-UnionPay and Visa cards and facilitates transactions by accepting Visa, RuPay, MasterCard, and Discover cards. For the past two decades, SCT has been providing secure, simple, and reliable payment services across Nepal and is the country’s first domestic card scheme. In addition to card services, SCT also offers services such as Smart QR, Smart Pay – IBFT (interbank fund transfer), and Smart Banking mobile banking solutions to various banks and financial institutions.
