30 bills become defunct after house dissolution

Kathmandu, Sept 13:  With the dissolution of the House of Representatives, 30 bills have automatically become defunct. According to Tribikram Parajuli, head of the House’s Bill Section, 21 of these were government bills and two were private bills registered in the House of Representatives.

These 23 bills originated from the House elected in the 2022 (2079 BS) elections. In addition, seven bills that originated in the National Assembly, were passed there, and were under consideration in the House have also lapsed.

Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri said that as per Article 111 of the Constitution, any bill under consideration in the House, or passed by the House and under consideration in the National Assembly, automatically lapses if the House is dissolved or its term expires.
