Short movies exposing the lifestyles of the kids of political leaders who spend luxurious lives on taxpayers’ money are being displayed on the social platform TikTok.
The anti-corruption Nepo Baby campaign, which started by spreading the rich lifestyle of the Indonesian leader and his three children on social media, has entered Nepal, reports the Ukera online portal.
According to the portal, the term “Nepo Baby usually refers to people who achieve success in their careers through their parents’ influence and contacts, and it is often used in a negative sense.
The term “Nepo Baby” became popular after Ghibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, was selected as the vice presidential candidate.
He has been criticized as a “Nepo Baby” for seeking to become vice president under the guise of his father’s power, despite his lack of political experience.
In Indonesia, the “Napo Baby” campaign has been launched to make videos about the expensive lifestyle of the children of those leaders who are solely dependent on the taxpayers’ money.
Presently, a video of the same ‘Nepo Baby’ campaign style in Nepal is being spread on social media.
If you search for “corrupt politician” on TikTok, which is registered in Nepal and has escaped the present government ban, you will find thousands of videos.
They have made videos showing the lifestyle of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Arju Deuba’s son Jaiveer Deuba, UML leader and former health minister Birodh Khatiwada and his daughter Shrinkhala Khatiwada, Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and his daughter Ganga and his granddaughters.
