
Kathmandu, May 30: former chief of Madhesh province Dr. Rajesh Ahiraj has established a scholarship fund in the name of nation builder Prithvi Narayan Shah at the Babai Multiple Campus in Gulria Municipality Ward No. 4, Bardiya district.
In a ceremony held on Monday on the campus, Dr. Ahiraj handed over one lakh and one thousand rupees and established the “Nation Builder Prithvi Scholarship Fund”.
Addressing the ceremony, former province chief Dr. Ahiraj said that the scholarship fund was established in the oldest and first campus of the district so that the talented and underprivileged class of students in Bardia would be benefited.
He opined that Nepali nationals should spend at least ten percent of their income on social services to keep alive them even after their death.
In the program, Birendra Raj Lamsal, the campus chief, informed that every year on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti, a program will be organized on Pous 27 and an underprivileged but talent student will be rewarded with the scholarship that will be received from the interest of the principal amount deposited at the bank.
Earlier, Dr. Ahiraj had established a similar type of scholarship in the name of the Great King Prithivi Narayan Shah at the Rupnagar Nandaraj Sangrola Campus in Saptari.
Babai Multipurpose Campus was established in the year 2044 BS with the tireless efforts of the late Bhojraj Baral, a resident of Gulria 4, and the then-District Panchayat President Surendra Chand Thakuri, a resident of Deudakala. After the establishment of the campus, students have been able to get higher-level education in the district.
