On/Off the Record

By June first week, the result of the Indian general elections will be made public and, perhaps, Narendra Modi will assume office for the third time, according to the pre-election predictions.
If Modi or the BJP will continue to rule for the third tenure in India, we expect more rigidness in its neighbor first policy. Modi is an ambitious leader, who doesn’t care about taking any unpopular decisions against the neighboring countries. Not to forget, Modi is blamed for the anti-Muslim carnage that engulfed Gujarat, killing at least 1,000 people in 2002 and abducting the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August 2019. It is thus widely expected that Modi may initiate a new neighborhood policy, including a new Nepal policy.
Ten years ago, the South Block and RAW were filled with those people close to the Indian Congress. In the past ten years, they have been replaced by those BJP men. The officials there are working in the BJP’s interests. Just recently, during the time, when the Indian political parties were busy in the election campaign, one former RAW officer, R.K. Yadav, appeared in an interview, which was taken by perhaps a Nepali interviewer. In the interview, Yadav claimed that Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda and K.P. Sharma Oli are the men of the Indian external intelligence, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Yadav has claimed that both Oli and Dahal cannot go against the interests of RAW.
Furthermore, Yadav, a former officer of RAW, has claimed that special treatment was offered to Dahal, chairman of the Maoist Center and presently the Prime Minister of Nepal, in Jawalpur, Madhya Pradesh, when Dahal was the guest of RAW. “You should understand, what could be the meaning of offering special treatment while hosting Dahal by our agency,” Yadav spoke to the interviewer giving the message that Dahal was the guest of RAW. Yadav didn’t miss to give the message that those who are working against India will be assassinated. “Now the leaders are busy in elections, and after the elections, actions will be started against those anti-Indian elements,” Yadav warned.
Immediately after Yadav’s interview, another interview appeared on social networks. The person, who was claiming himself as a sharpshooter and a killer, said that how he opened fire against one person who betrayed India just for 150 million Indian currency. Many local observers guessed that the story could be linked to Jamim Shah, who was killed by Indian sharpshooters just in front of the French Embassy in Lajimpat.
Canada has strongly protested the killing of its citizens, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Sikh separatist leader, by India. The USA has also expressed a strong reaction against the Indian attitude.
Our sitting PM Dahal and a strong ally of the present coalition government, Oli, who are addressing dozens of programs each day, condemning allegations made by the opposition parties, have not spoken a single word about Yadav’s allegation and also the assassination plot by another India sharpshooter. Should we understand the silence could be an acceptance of the blame by an ex-RAW officer, Yadav? Should we believe that both Oli and Dahal are working in the interests of RAW? Yadav is the author of the book “Mission Nepal”. Yadav said that the Nepali communists do not abide by the communist principle, rather, they are opportunists.
We know, India is actively involved in micromanagement in Nepal. Since the 1990 political change, Indian activities have intensified, and now the political leaders are working in Indian interests rather than the interests of Nepal and the Nepali people.
In the recent past, the Indian Army’s ex-general Ashok Mehta said that our PM Dahal is an “Indian horse” and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is “a horse in the stable”.
The three leaders, identified as the Indian horses, are enjoying power turn by turn with the Indian blessings, and every time they become the PM, they offer one another precious gift to India.
Understandably, the Indians are disseminating such messages to remind commitments made by our political leaders and to inform Nepali nationals about the character of those leaders. Moreover, such messages are for terrorizing the people of the small South Asian countries. India plans to bring Nepal and other small countries under the Indian security umbrella, it is clear. The Indivisible India mural placed at the Parliament House speaks a lot.
Be that as it may, the small South Asian nations are under a serious threat from the hegemonic, imperialist and expansionist India.
