In a dramatic political development, the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal led by Upendra Yadav has split again. The party split at a time when there were rumours that Madhav Kumar Nepal of the CPN (Unified Socialist) was trying to become the Prime Minister in the backing of the Nepali Congress and Yadav were rife. Again, Yadav was not in Nepal when seven of the 12 lawmakers of his party decided to form a separate party in the leadership of Ashok Rai.
Earlier, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai deserted the party.
With the split of the JSP-N, the plan of Madhav Nepal to become the PM has been shattered for now. However, Nepal has denied the allegations.
Upendra Yadav also complained to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday that he and Oli had their roles in breaking his party.
The Election Commission has also recognised the split away faction as a new political party, but Yadav has threatened to challenge the decision in the court stating that his party was broken and the break-away faction was given recognition when there is no law to recognise the new party at present.
The seven lawmakers who formed the new party are Ashok Rai, Nawal Kishore Shah Sudi, Pradeep Yadav, Ranju Jha, Birendra Mahato, Hasina Khan and Sushila Shrestha.
It is said that nine party members from central executive committee and 27 from central committee are in favour of leader Rai’s group.
