NC opposes government’s decision for issuing ordinance

Kathmandu, April 27: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has opposed the decision to issue ordinances aiming the investment summit.

Issuing a press release on Saturday, party chief whip Ramesh Lekhak condemned the government’s move to address the investment summit, which was supposed to be held months ago, by misinterpreting the provisions of the constitution.

The government had amended nine different laws through an ordinance ahead of the third investment summit scheduled to be held on April 28 and 29.

“The government’s move to promulgate an ordinance to address the investment summit scheduled to be held months ago by misinterpreting the provisions of the constitution that allows the government to issue an ordinance if it is necessary to issue an ordinance immediately except when the federal parliament is in session is against the spirit of the prevailing constitution, parliamentary system and democracy,” Lekhak said in a statement.
