Kathmandu, April 27: Kathmandu’s air quality has been recorded as the worst among the capital cities in the globe.
Forest fires, diesel burning, burning tyers in brick factories and polluted air arriving from India have caused deterioration of the air quality in Kathmandu, according to experts.
The Swiss IQAIR recorded the Kathmandu Air Quality Index (AQI) at 265 on Wednesday with particulate matter pollution (PM2.5) levels 34 times higher than the World Health Organisation’s air quality guidelines.
The AQI level in Kathmandu is considered to be ‘very unhealthy’ and ‘hazardous’ levels.
