Kathmandu, March 8: Today is Maha Shivaratri Day. This holy festival is observed on the Falgun Krishna Chatardashi according to the lunar calendar.
Those people who have beliefs in the Hindu religion observe the day by worshipping Lord Shiva, the God of creation and destruction.
On the occasion of the festival, Hindu religious followers visit different Shiva temples and offer pooja to the Lord Shiva. People visit the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, the Kumbheshwor and Santaneshwar temples in Lalitpur, and the Doleshwar temple in Bhaktapur, among other Shiva temples, today.
Shivaratri Day is the founding day of the Nepal Army. The Army is organizing the festival by organizing different programs, including a special military show at Tundikhel, Kathmandu.
