Kathmandu, March 5: Finally, Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal kicked out the Nepali Congress from the alliance government.
After breaking the alliance with the Nepali Congress on Monday, PM Dahal addressed a function participated by the communist leaders in Kathmandu. PM Dahal said that the decision made by him to kick out NC was a break in the political process.
“Every time, when I feel a threat, I can break the circle and go out by kicking them,” Dahal said with pride.
“Such a truculence will continue to occur until I am alive”, Dahal said.
Why did Dahal change the partner?:
Dahal has ended the alliance with the NC and again joined hands with the UML. The National Socialist Front was formed to develop a working alliance and ultimately plan for unification among the communist parties. This Front has been insisting on a working alliance among the communist political parties and the formation of a communist-dominated government.
The Maoist Center is a declining force in the Nepali political arena. Chairman Dahal is worried about the weakening strength of the party. Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress Mahasamiti meeting took the decision not to develop an election alliance with any other political parties. The reality is that the Maoist Center cannot contest elections alone. From the Mahasamiti decisions of the NC, Dahal became suspicious.
Moreover, Dahal wished to change the ministers, whereas, Deuba didn’t give the green signal saying that he had sent the NC leaders to the cabinet for two years. Dahal didn’t get cooperation from finance minister Prakash Sharan Mahat. Therefore, he wanted to change Mahat but Deuba didn’t give consent.
According to the gentleman agreement between Dahal and Deuba, it was decided to give the National Assembly chairman’s post to the Nepali Congress. Therefore, Krishna Sitaula, who was defeated in the election for the member of the House of Representatives, again contested the election for the member of the National Assembly.
If the NA chairman’s post is given to the NC, there would be no representation from the Maoist Center in the Constitutional Council after Dahal quits the PM’s post. The constitutional council is comprised of the PM, speaker, chair of the National Assembly, leader of the main opposition party, deputy speaker, and chief justice. Dahal saw zero presence of the Maoist Party in future and decided for the party to contest the election to the post of the national assembly chairman.
In the Koshi Province, despite voting for the candidate of the Maoist Center to the post of chief minister, a group in the NC developed an alliance with the UML and the NC candidate was elected the chief minister.
Moreover, the Maoist Center supported the NC candidate and Krishna Sitaula was elected a member of the national assembly but the Maoist candidate was defeated, from which, Dahal became suspicious.
