HMG’s silence on the latest eruption of violence in Kashmir, following the desecration and razing of the 15 century Muslim shrine in Charare-sharif in India occupied Jammu and Kashmir state on May 11 is both loud as well as eloquent, say discerning observers of the Nepalese foreign policy scene.
They question why it has not been possible for HMG, which claims to lay great store on a climate of peace prevailing in the region to have issued a general non-accusatory statement expressing concern over the dangerous escalation of tension between her neighbors’ and fellow SAARC members, India and Pakistan, over the aforementioned development.
