Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is embarking on an India visit on May 31, as reported by a few media outlets in Kathmandu. However, the government has not made the proposed visit schedule public officially.

Five months after assuming office in December last year, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is all set to begin his maiden visit to India, reported The Kathmandu Post, citing senior government officials.

The Prime Minister will pay a four-day visit to India at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

During his stay in India, the Prime Minister will call on Indian President Droupadi Murmu and hold delegation-level talks with Indian PM Modi.

Although it is not clear what agenda the PM will talk about, it is expected that the signing of some agreements, a memorandum of understanding, and a groundbreaking ceremony will take place after the delegation-level talks between the two Prime Ministers.

Likewise, Indian Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval are likely to call on the Prime Minister.

After signing agreements and MoU, the PM will fly to Mumbai, sources said. He will return to Kathmandu on June 3.

As it is not yet clear what issues the two PMs will discuss, it is widely expected that they will sign some key agreements on water resources and other issues. PM Dahal is likely to seek support for the smooth operation of Bhairahawa Airport. However, he may not raise the issue of border dispute, especially in Kalapani areas although he argued on Tuesday in the National Assembly that the territories of Kalapani and Limpiyadhura belong to Nepal.
