Leaders agree to appoint CJ

Kathmandu, 17 April: Finally, leaders of major political parties have agreed to hold the meeting of the Constitutional Council and assign chief justice soon.

Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal, speaker Devraj Ghimire, main opposition party leader K.P. Oli and Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba have agreed to appoint the chief justice.

The meeting held at Oli’s residence in Balkot today reached an agreement.

Oli had given consent to the proposal of the Prime Minister.

For the last 14 months, the acting chief justice is heading the Supreme Court, which has created obstacles in the smooth operation of the judicial sector.

The PM may call the meeting of the constitutional council soon to appoint the chief justice.

Also, the supreme leaders agreed to constitute different committees in Parliament.
