
Kathmandu, 17 April: An international flag park will be built in Mahendrapul, the main market of Pokhara. 195 flags of the UN member countries plus flags of the Pokhara Metropolitan City, Lions Club and NRNA will be placed in the park.
Pokhara Metropolitan City is going to build the park with the financial support of the Lions Club International. A public toilet will also be constructed near the park with the help of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).
It is said that the construction of the park will be completed in 45 days. For the construction of the park, the districts of the Lions Club International will provide financial assistance of Rs. 70 lakhs. Sarga Company has been assigned to construct the park.
Dhanraj Acharya, mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, while laying the foundation stone of the park, said that the park will be built in a four-level parfait style. The pillars with the names of the countries will be erected. The flag of Nepal will be placed at the highest point in the middle.
After the construction of the park, the place will be developed as a learning center. The area around the park will be made a Wi-Fi-free zone, and necessary computers will also be kept for those who want to read newspapers and read online, according to mayor Archarya.
