Kathmandu, 13 April: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to elect Bindabasini Kanshakar as lawmaker under proportional category of election. A central committee meeting of the party held on Wednesday expelled its lawmaker under proportional category Dhaka Kumar Shrestha from party and decided to elect Kanshakar as the lawmaker.

RSP Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane shared that the party decided to remove Shrestha from the post of lawmaker and party’s general member because he was found involved in defaming party by seeking bribe.

Earlier, Shrestha was suspended by the party after an audiotape of him demanding Rs 20 million from medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai was released.

The RSP also took the decision to inform the Parliament Secretariat about sacking Shrestha from lawmaker post and file application at the Election Commission seeking Bindabasini Kanshakar’s election to the vacant post. It argued that Kanshakar is in top rank of the closed list under the proportional category submitted to the EC earlier.
