Kathmandu, 10 April: It has been revealed that the dollar billionaire Binod Chaudhary, violating construction codes and existing laws, has been building a 17 storey apartment and luxury hotel without conducting Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) and map, using political and financial influence.
Chaudhary’s company, Summit Apartments, has been carrying out construction work for three months without even following the normal process of applying for endorsement of structural maps of the building, it has not even submitted a single application with regard to construction at the Lalitpur Metropolitan Corporation (LMC).
The LMC mayor, Chiri Babu Maharjan has said that his office has not received any application. “Local government has been totally ignored in this case,” he is quoted as saying in Kantipur Daily.
