KMC Mayor adamant about not collecting Singhadurbar garbage, gives 14 reasons

Kathmandu, 10 April: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Sah has said that he has stopped collecting garbage from the Singhadurbar due to irresponsibility and non-cooperative of the federal government.

Posting a picture of him with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha in Facebook, he has given 14 reasons what he had planned for the KMC and response from the 14 federal ministries.  He has argued that he wanted to make reforms in various aspects of city life but the federal agencies did not cooperate with him.

He has questioned in Facebook, “How can we say that the government that does not listen to the another government and people’s representatives, and understand and prioritize (their problems) accept the existence of one another? How can we say that the federal government is for strengthening federalism?”

He has further said: Singhadurbar is located in KMC and it is hardly 500 meters away from KMC. Despite this,  we have to work gar to reach the government sitting in Singhadurbar.  It is not felt at all that the Singhadurbar, which is a federal government, does not want to coordinate with the local government in matters relating to public . After repeated attempts, there is a situation where it is difficult to coordinate and implement the things that have been coordinated, even after repeated initiatives in 9 months.
