Indian obstruction on electricity line extension

Kathmandu, 10 April: Indian security personnel have obstructed electricity line extension works in Belauri Municipality-8, Kanchanpur. The Indian Border Security Force (SAB) has prevented the staff of the Nepal Electricity Authority from extending the electricity line. The Indian side did not allow the staff of the Authority to extend the electricity line in the Black Bridge to Pachui area on the Postal Highway.

Kapil Joshi, the head of the Belauri Distribution Center of the Authority, said that the SSB team stopped the work when the work of burying the electricity pole was going on along the Postal Highway. The contract has been signed so that the work should be done within the current fiscal year.

The work of burying the pole has come to a standstill after the Indian security personnel obstructed the extension of the electricity line. Residents have complained that although the land in the Postal Highway area belongs to Nepal, the Indian side has repeatedly obstructed and caused trouble.
