Kathmandu, 6 April: The Supreme Court has issued a show cause notice against decision of Attorney General to not take ahead the case against Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane.
A single bench of Justice Hari Phunyal sought a written response from the Office of the Attorney General on why it decided not to prosecute Lamichhane. The show cause order came in response to a writ petition filed by advocate Yubaraj Poudel ‘Safal’.
In the petition filed on Monday, advocate Poudel had demanded to scrap Attorney General Dinmani Pokhrel’s decision to drop the case against misuse of passportort by Lamichhane. He further said Attorney General Pokhrel’s decision condoned Lamichhane while the latter had to be punished.
