The government has signed a 5-point agreement with the loan shark victims. Negotiation teams of both sides have agreed to set up a commission to solve the problems of the victims of loan sharking.

The commission was formed as per the provisions of the Inquiry Commission Act – 2026 BS by the Cabinet meeting on Monday.

The three-member commission is chaired by former Judge of the Special Court Gauri Bahadur Karki with former deputy attorney general Ganesh Babu Aryal and former Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police Uttam Subedi.

The head office of the commission will be set up in Janakpurdham and it is given three months to settle the problems of the victims.

However, despite the inking of the agreement, more groups of loan shark victims are arriving in Kathmandu to exert pressure on the government to solve their problems.

The two sides have also agreed to form a district-level coordination and facilitation committee under the coordination of the Chief District Officer to address the regular complaints of the victims of loan sharking.

With this agreement, the first group of agitating victims called off the programmes of protests.
