Kathmandu, 4 April: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP)has stated that corona virus infection is increasing in Nepal due to the seasonal cold. Issuing a statement MoHP has said that new variant of the corona virus Omicron XBB 1.16 has been found in the neighboring countries leading to rising infection in Nepal.
“When 24 samples were tested, the Omicron variant was confirmed in all the 24”, it said. The National Public Health Laboratory has so far confirmed eight variants of Omicron so far. In the statement, the Ministry has called for multi-sector support and coordination including vaccination, observing public health standards to prevent COVID-19 pandemic, which is still not fully under control.
