Kathmandu, 10 March: The Maoist Center is expecting a female candidate from a different ethnic group for the Vice President.
After the meeting of the ruling alliance held in Baluatar, Maoist Center (MC) general secretary Dev Gurung informed the press that the VP should be from a different gender and community.
Gurung said that according to the spirit of the constitution, a VP from the opposite gender and community would be preferable for the Maoist Center.
General secretary Gurung said that it is an established practice that the President and VP should be from different genders.
According to the agreement among the ruling alliance partners, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) led by Upendra Yadav is to get the VP’s post. Yadav, who was defeated by C.K. Raut of the Janamat Party in the November 2022 general elections, is planning to elect Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav as the VP and Upendra Yadav himself to contest the by-election in the vacant post after Ramsahaya Yadav being elected to the post.
