Kathmandu, 7 March: The Supreme Court (SC) has mentioned that Ravi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, who came to Nepal as an American citizen and obtained a Nepali passport by giving false information, will be dealt as per the Passport Act.
Lamichhane obtained a Nepali passport by submitting his automatically deactivated Nepali citizenship as an American citizen.
The full text of the verdict was released by the SC today. Although the brief order of January 27 did not mention anything about the passport, the full text mentioned that the investigation is being carried out and that the matter should be decided according to the Passport Act, 1967, and the current Passport Act, 2019.
