Immaturity and rebellion mindset of Maoists

Kathmandu, 7 March: The Maoist leaders have given provocative and objectionable statements against the Supreme Court’s (SC) order to register a writ  previously denied by SC’s administration. Without looking at the full text of the order, the statements made by the Maoist leaders show that they are still in the mindset of the rebellion.

In the order given by the joint bench of the SC, it is mentioned that the path of the aggrieved party to ‘enter the court’ cannot be blocked in the matter of ‘no hearing by the transitional judicial mechanism’. Similarly, the fact that the transitional justice cannot be kept “postponed indefinitely” is also mentioned in the order.

The writ petition sought to be registered drawing attention to the controversial statement of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was rejected by the court administration. In the petition filed against the same bench, the joint bench of the Supreme Court ordered to register a writ stating that the rights of the victims cannot be denied.

Maoist leaders made provocative and objectionable statements against the SC order on social media. Some called this order a ‘conspiracy’ to derail the peace process, while others threatened to ‘kill’ those opposing the Maoists. The CPN-Maoist Center has protested the order by issuing a statement.

It has been 16 years since the Maoists quit the violent insurgency and entered the peace process. In the meantime, the Maoist leader also led the government several times. The Maoist leaders, who entered the forest to grab the power with the barrel of a gun, got to lead the government through the democratic process.

After coming to the peace process, they have managed to acquire power and wealth by manipulating the country. Statements that Chairman of the Maoist Center Dahal falsified the number of fighters or Baburam Bhattarai accused Dahal of corruption worth billions of rupees are still found in the records. However, they have not been prosecuted.

Ironically, now they have come to this way due to the latest natural and general order of the Supreme Court. This is probably a remnant of  ‘gun violence’ schooling. Otherwise, in a democracy, neither any process of the court is considered a ‘conspiracy’ nor is the court distrusted. Therefore, it seems that the Maoist leaders are still unable to assimilate democratic methods and procedures.

Now, no matter how hard it is, it is definitely not easy to enter the forest again. Even the Maoist leaders had no choice but to accept democratic methods and procedures.  Maoist leaders should have  whole heartedly accepted the order rather than showing their immature and undemocratic character to exploit unnecessary excitement and fear.

Being serious about the order issued by the joint bench of the Supreme Court and proceeding to execute the transitional justice as promptly as possible so that tarnished image of Maoist Centre be restored and its supreme leader’s repeated commitment of concluding the remaining task of  peace process see the light of the day.
