Maoist’s warning not to take action against Dahal

Kathmandu, 5 March: The CPN-Maoist Center has warned not to proceed with the action regarding the jurisdiction of the Truth and Reconciliation  Commission. The Maoist center has expressed its displeasure after the petition demanding criminal investigation and action against Puspa Kamal Dahal  will be registered in the Supreme Court because he said he would take responsibility for the 5,000 people killed during the conflict-era.

Revoking the Supreme Court (SC)administration decision not to register two petitions seeking an order to arrest Pushpa Kamal Dahal, SC Justice duo Ishwar Khatiwada and Hari Phuyal on Friday had ordered the SC administration to register the petitions.

Kalyan Budhathoki and Gyanendra Aran, victims of Armed Maoist Conflict, have sought maximum punishment for Dahal and others as per the law, stating that Dahal had made a public statement taking moral responsibility for killing 5,000 people in a programme organized on January 15, 2020 in Kathmandu.

General Secretary  of Maoist Center Dev Gurung, issuing a press statement  has said that his party will reject any activity against the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, the Constitution and the progressive achievements, “With a reminder that the issues within the jurisdiction of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission will be adversely affected, to assume jurisdiction, proceed with action and make any decision. We want warn and make aware.”

It may be noted that in November 2022, the Supreme Court administration had decided not to register two petitions seeking an order to arrest Dahal on the basis of his statement.
