Students organise demonstration in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, 1 March: Protesting the government’s decision not to conduct pesticide tests on vegetables imported from India as recommended by the Agriculture Ministry to the government, students close to the UML have launched a demonstration in front of the Tri-Chandra Campus in Kathmandu.

The recommendation of the Agriculture Ministry was suspended by the present government led by Pushpakamal Dahal for the fear of India becoming furious from conducting pesticide tests on vegetables imported from India.

According to the Agriculture Ministry, around 30 types of pesticides are being used in vegetables imported from India. The government has decided not to conduct a test on Indian vegetables as after the test, vegetables cannot be imported and India can become furious.

Students have blamed the government is playing against the health of the general public by denying to conduct pesticide tests.
