
Kathmandu, 26 February: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has to take another vote of confidence from the House of Representatives within the next 30 days. Prime Minister Dahal has to take a vote of confidence again after the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) withdrew its support and quit the government.
On Saturday, the RPP quit the government and withdrew its support after Prime Minister Dahal formed another eight-party coalition for the presidential election, . RPP ministers have already tendered their resignations.
As per the Article 100 of the Constitution of Nepal, if the party represented by the Prime Minister splits or if the party participating in the government withdraws its support, the Prime Minister must submit a proposal to the House of Representatives for a vote of confidence within 30 days. It is mentioned that if the proposal submitted in such a way is not endorsed by the majority of the existing members, the Prime Minister will be relieved of his post.
Earlier, the Rastriya Swatantra Party had quit the government. However, it had maintained its support for the government. But the RPP quit the government and withdrew its support. According to the provisions of the constitution, Prime Minister Dahal has to take a vote of confidence within the next 30 days, i.e. March 26.
