Kathmandu, 25 February: Nepali Congress (NC), the largest party in the parliament, lost power two months ago after failing to maintain its own leadership alliance, but it is certain that it will win the election of President with overwhelming majority. Eight political parties represented in the Parliament have agreed to support and assist the NC in the presidential election. Seven political parties have given the responsibility of naming candidates to the NC itself.
The NC has not made a formal decision on who to nominate as the presidential candidate. However, it is almost certain that leader Ramchandra Paudel will be picked for the post. Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader Paudel and former General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula from the NC are being talked about a potential presidential candidate. Leaders have also taken the names of Gopalman Shrestha and Man Bahadur Shrestha. However, President Deuba has already promised to nominate Poudel. Deuba has reached an agreement with Prime Minister Dahal and top leaders of other parties to nominate Paudel to the post of the Head of the State.
Unless Deuba wants to become the president himself, Paudel is sure to become the presidential candidate from the Nepali Congress.
