Kathmandu, 25 February: Ramchandra Paudel, NC leader, has filed candidature for the post of President today.
Paudel reached the Election Office at New Baneshwor to register his candidature along with the senior leaders from eight parties in the new alliance.
Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal, Madhav Nepal, Narayankaji Shrestha, Ashok Kumar Rai, Abdul Khan, Mahant Thakur, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Ranjita Shrestha, Chitra Bahadur KC and Hitraj Pandey had accompanied Paudel while filing his candidature.
After PM Dahal, who is the chair of the Maoist Center, decided to support the NC candidate for the presidential post, the coalition with the UML has broken.
The new coalition led by NC is comprised of the Maoist Center, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Unified Socialist Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party and Rastriya Janamorcha.
