Kathmandu, 17 February: The presidential election is nearing, yet, the ruling alliance is unable to develop a consensus candidate for the president. UML is claiming that it should get the president’s post following the previous agreement between Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal and UML chair K.P. Sharma Oli.
On the other hand, PM Dahal is taking stance on an all-party consensus candidate for the President’s post. On 16 February, Dahal and Oli held a two-hour-long meeting in Baluatar, PM”s official residence but Oli returned empty-handed.
According to Nagarik daily, PM Dahal has started bargaining for remaining in the PM’s post for five years. Earlier, Dahal and Oli had agreed to lead the government turn by turn. According to the agreement, PM Dahal should quit the PM’s post after completing two and a half years in office and hand over the post to Oli.
Now, PM Dahal has started bargaining to become the PM for full tenure, i.e. five years, the daily has reported.
