PM Dahal and UML chair Oli differ on presidential candidate

Kathmandu, 16 February: UML chair K.P. Sharma Oli met with Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal at the latter’s official residence in Baluatar this morning.

Both the leaders discussed the upcoming presidential election, however, they failed to develop a consensus on the candidate.

PM Dahal has hinted that he may not follow the understanding reached between them on the issue of the new president.

In today’s meeting, Oli reminded the previous agreement and asked PM Dahal for backing the UML candidate for the post of President, however, Dahal has rejected Oli’s proposal, according to sources.

At the Balkot meeting before providing UML’s support to Dahal for the prime minister’s post, both the leaders had agreed to provide the presidency to the UML.
