
Kathmandu, 12 February: The medical doctors in agitation have ended their agitation programmes following a six-point agreement with the government.
The Nepal Medical Association had announced a nationwide demonstration shutting down all medical services except emergency services for today. The Association announced agitation protesting the manhandling of a medical doctor at the Trauma Center by security personnel in the course of escorting the President’s vehicle.
This morning, the Prime Minister’s Office invited a delegation from the Nepal Medical Association for talks. During the talks, when the PMO agreed to investigate the case of manhandling within a week and punish the official responsible for manhandling the doctor, the government was to bear all the medical expenses of the wounded doctor and the government ensure the security of the medical doctors.
After the agreement, the Association called off the strike announced for today.
