Shah appointed Chief Minister of Far West Province

Kathmandu, 10 February: Chief of the Far West Province Devraj Joshi today appointed Kamal Bahadur Shah as the Chief Minister of Far West Province in accordance with the Article 168 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal. Shah is the Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader in the province assembly. Shah was elected the province assembly member from Kailali district under the first past the post electoral system.

Chief Minister of Far West Province Rajendra Singh Rawal tendered his resignation from the post to the Province Chief after failing to garner a vote of confidence in the Province Assembly meeting. Of the 53-member Province Assembly, NC owns 19 members, Maoist Centre 10 (except for the Province Assembly Speaker), CPN (UML) 10, Nagarik Unmukti seven, CPN (Unified Socialist) four, RPP one and one independent.
