
Kathmandu, 6 January: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has condemned the baseless and prejudiced statements made by President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane against the Nepali media sector.
Issuing a press statement the FNJ said that Lamichhane’s hostile expressions through baseless and prejudiced statements was a serious attack on freedom of expression. Making expressions against the media by losing temper from an individual who served as the country’s deputy prime minister and minister for home affairs was an attack on the entire media sector, the FNJ said in its statement, while calling for the concerned side to respect the constitutional right of the free press.
Lamichhane, on Sunday, who was Home minister for 32 days that enforce law and order and maintain peace in the society threatened to encircle media organizations that criticize him and take whatever action he wants.
