20 labourers rescued from Mahakali River

Kathmandu, 30 January: 20 labourers trapped in the Mahakali River due to the flood after India suddenly opened the doors of the Banbasa Barrage without informing the Nepali side, have been rescued by the Kanchanpur Police this afternoon. 

The labourers were collecting construction materials from the river from the Mahakali River at Bhujela, Bhimdatta Municipality in West Nepal. They were trapped by the sudden floods at the Mahakali River after the Indian side opened the doors of the Barrage. 

The floods occurred after the Indian side opened the Barrage doors without informing the Nepali side. Mahakali is the border River between Nepal and India.
