Lamichhane’s legitimacy of being MP, SC to serve a ruling today

Kathmandu, 27 January: The final hearing on the writ petitions challenging Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane’s legitimacy as a member of House of Representatives will continue today as it could not be completed on Wednesday.  Sources at the Supreme Court (SC) state that a kind of ruling will be issued today since all the documents and details have been presented before the court.

The constitutional bench including Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki, and Justices Bishwambhar Shrestha, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinha started final hearing in the petitions against Lamichhane on Wednesday.

Advocate Yuvaraj Paudel and Rabiraj Basaula had registered a writ petition at the SC arguing that Lamichhane cannot become a member of House of Representatives because he doesn’t have the Nepali citizenship.
