
Kathmandu, 23 January: Nepal has a trade deficit with 113 countries as she trades with 141 countries across the globe. The trade deficit is increasing due to the inability to increase the production and productivity of export goods. The biggest deficit are with two neighboring countries, India and China. Along with this, Nepal’s trade deficit with SAARC countries is also high.
In the 5 months of the current fiscal year, India alone has a trade deficit of Rs 3 trillion 52 billion 8029 million. Nepal imported goods worth Rs 4 trillion, 17 billion 9 million while exported commodities worth Rs 47 billion 360 million, according to data released by the Department of Customs.
