
Kathmandu, 19 January: Two major political parties filed candidacy for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives on Wednesday. Debraj Ghimire of CPN UML is the candidate on behalf of ruling alliance while Ishwori Prasad Neupane is from opposition Nepali Congress.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has issued a whip to its lawmakers to vote for the party’s candidate for the post of Speaker, Ishwari Devi Neupane. Congress Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak issuing a whip to the MPs of the party to be present, not remain neutral and to vote for the proposal to elect Neupane as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The proposal on the election of the Speaker is scheduled to be tabled, in accordance with Article 91 of the Constitution and House of Representatives Regulations, 2075 B.S., at the meeting of the House of Representatives to be held at 11:00 a.m. today.
