Rainbow cabinet

BABBLES

By Babbler

Finally, Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal has given the final shape to his cabinet. Viewing the political parties comprised in the government, it looks like a collaboration of different colors, or say a rainbow.

In other words, it is a camel-like government with political parties having different ideologies.

It also makes clear that the system has failed.

Prachanda’s first leg to India

Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, in the process of projecting himself as a pro-Indian leader, has ensured New Delhi that he will put his first leg of a foreign visit to Delhi.

Since the 1990 political change, an undeclared tradition has been introduced in Nepali politics that every prime minister after being elected, will be visiting Delhi as if they are going to present a letter of credence to their Indian bosses!

Yet another air crash

Accepted experts’ argument that aircraft will never become old but why the Nepali sky is not safe, is a burning question. After every aircraft accident, a probe committee will be formed and the report will be the same, “human error”.  It is easy to blame pilots who have died in the accident. What about the maintenance history of the aircraft? Are they properly maintained; has the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) properly monitored the aircraft maintenance schedule?

We know, everywhere, there is rampant corruption. In this corrupt world, is CAAN clean?

Nepal in the eye of foreign media

Whether our political leaders have monitored reports about the plane crash in foreign media or not, we don’t know. Along with the report of the plane crash, Nepal is being projected as a country of corruption, mal governance and a country running without a system. Don’t our leaders and bureaucrats feel shame about such a feeling from the foreign media?

 QUOTES OF THE WEEK

  • The government should decide to allow all the planes belonging to Yati Air and Tara’ Air — under the same management — to resume service only after checking the technical condition and confirming their airworthiness of them.

There is talk of corruption in the Aviation Authority. Therefore, the officials should be separated from the responsibility until the investigation is carried out.

 Dhruba H. Adhikary

The Yeti Group is so powerful that no matter even if the entire aviation sector of the country should be blacklisted by the EU, the regulatory body will never have the courage to ask it to improve this company. It occupies government property at a very cheap price by influencing the government. The national flag carrier (NAC) has itself become Himalayan! Who is the real owner of this company?

Prabhat Bhattarai

  • 13 accidents in 24 years, 6 fatal with 97 casualties. One common name in all these is “Yeti Airlines”. This is the time to ground the company and run a thorough public audit of its decision-making process.

Apil Gurung

  • I supposed, they keep grounded all the old aircraft from tomorrow but they announced a nationwide government holiday for tomorrow!

Enjoy commission by operating those old aircraft.

Harka Sampang, Mayor

  • The Yeti Air plane crash has made clear that the government is not serious about service facilities and rescue operations and manpower to be available in case of emergency along with the construction of the international airport in Nepal.

The plane crash is not a fire in a warehouse.

Bhushan Dahal

  • A day of mourning and a 5 member team writing a technical report are not enough. We need Nepal’s transport safety to improve now. No more air crashes! No more bus crashes! Never again! This requires an end to the corruption that kept unsafe operators going!

Arnico Panday

After the accident, the focus should be given to rescue and relief works. Will the government’s responsibility be fulfilled by giving leave as if it has not been done? This tradition of public holidays is completely unnecessary.

Dr Achyut Wagle

  • Do you know why there is no investigation even when so many aircraft belonging to Yeti Air have crashed away? UML’s “Ba” is so cute. After the ATR accident in Pokhra, a slight chill must have entered the minds of the people and MPs.

Bishodip Lamichhane

  • 30 years old cars on the road, 50 years old aircraft in the sky, 70 years old leaders in politics always cause an accident.

Sarbesh Aryal

  • In other countries, the company with 13-14 aircraft accidents in 20 years would have been closed, and those aviation officials providing operation licenses would have been jailed. Forget about the road accidents when aircraft accident is rampant in the country!

 Dipak Poudel

It is said that if the enemy praises you, you are in the wrong place. If the enemy criticizes you, you are in the right place. If the missionary media like Kantipur, Naya Patrika, Setopati, Ratopati, Online Khabar Shilapatra, and Himal start praising and exalting, let us know how the Indo/Western missionary is doing here.

Arjun Gyawali

  • In a short time, many countries have made remarkable achievements in infrastructural development. Our country is in a dilemma of federalism, republicanism and secularism and rampant corruption.

Niranjan Thapa

  • Allowing to fly such old aircraft and when it crashes, announcing a national holiday to mourn! How long should we allow continue such irresponsible acts?

Sarmila Acharya

  • The aircraft crash in Pokhara is not an accident but a murder committed by the government by allowing old aircraft to fly. As long as old planes are being flown in the sky, the general public continues to die. The government should have the courage to punish the air mafia to make Nepali skies safe.

Kunti Pokharel

  • In my experience, Yeti Airlines takes high risks by flying such old aircraft. This is not possible without influence and relationship with those in politics, regulatory and monitoring authorities.

Suman Neupane

  • Pokhara air crash: After adopting the process of privatization/liberalization, there should have been strong regulatory and monitoring bodies. Regulation itself is a distinct genre of expertise.

There is no independent regulatory system in Nepal. However, this task is often left to ex-employees without basic knowledge of regulation.

Surya Raj Acharya

  • Why not international experts be hired for an impartial investigation of the Yeti Air aircraft crash?

Money can buy anything anyone in Nepal.

 Madhav Subedi

  • In the parliamentary system of governance, the opposition party has the power to provide an alternative government and make the government accountable to the parliament. Standing on the government’s line of vote of confidence is not its constitutional religion. Congress destroyed all the political, constitutional and moral values of the opposition party.

 Bhimarjun Acharya

The recent decision taken by the main opposition party Nepali Congress seems to wait for the fruits to fall from an ox. Such an act will ultimately weaken itself and the infant democracy, what else will it achieve?

The optimum desire for power!
