Kathmandu, 15 January: The ill-fated Yeti Air aircraft that crashed in Pokhara this morning was boarded with 15 foreign nationals and 53 Nepalis. Four crew members were in the aircraft.
Four Russian, five Indian, one French, two Korean, one Australian and one Argentine national boarded the aircraft.
Folk singer Nira Chantyal was also in the aircraft.
Dr Sushil Shrestha, an Orthopedic surgeon and his wife Dr Sona Diwakar were also travelling to Pokhara from the same aircraft.
In the list of passengers, journalist Tribhuvan Poudel is also included. Poudel had arrived in Kathmandu from Pokhara to attend the press meet at the Prime Minister’s Office in Baluatar on Saturday afternoon.
Poudel is the central committee member of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists.
Local witnesses say that the aircraft took a short turn in landing the aircraft from the western side of the airport. Taking a short turn could be the reason for the accident, they speculate.
The aircraft went out of contact after 10 50 am.
