Kathmandu, 13 January: The Patan High Court has issued an order to release rape-accused suspended national cricket team captain Sandip Lamichhane on a bail amount of Rs 2 million on Thursday. A division bench of judges Ramesh Dhakal and Dhruba Raj Nanda issued the order to release Lamichhane on bail.
Lamichhane has been ordered not to leave the Kathmandu Valley, if required to do so, mandatorily seek permission of the District Police Office, Kathmandu. A 17-year-old girl had filed a case against cricketer Lamichhane, accusing him of rape on October 31, 2022. The District Office of Attorney, Kathmandu had filed the case against Lamichhane, demanding him imprisonment of 10 to 12 years on rape charge.
