Kathmandu, 8 January: Newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song has arrived in Kathmandu to take charge of Chinese Mission here. Deputy Chief of Protocol Rewati Raman Poudel, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese embassy Wang Xin and other officials of the Chinese embassy welcomed Ambassador Chen at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
Ambassador Song was scheduled to arrive on December 27 as his travel was postponed due to COVID-19. Song is an expert on South Asian Affairs. He has served as the Deputy Director General at the Department of Asian Affairs at the Headquarters in Beijing. His predecessor Hou Yanqi has been promoted and posted to ASEAN in Indonesia. She served in Nepal for four years.
