Kathmandu, 31 December: Senior journalist and former minister Shrish S Rana passed away early this morning at 12. 19 am while undergoing treatment at the King Birendra Nepal Army Hospital.
Rana, 70, was suffering from cancer and undergoing treatment for the past several months.
His last rites are scheduled to be performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat at 8 am, according to the family source.
Rana was the minister for information and communications for some months during King Gyanendra’s direct rule.
Rana also served as the executive chairman of the Gorkhapatra Corporation until the 1990 movement. After the formation of the interim government following the movement, Rana tendered his resignation.
Rana started his journalism career as the editor of The Rising Nepal.
Rana was associated with the People’s Review weekly since its founding 32 years ago. His association with the Weekly continued until his last breath.
Late Rana is survived by a wife and two sons.
