Prachanda to become PM with UML’s support

Kathmandu, 25 December: The political course has changed dramatically. The political course changed a few hours earlier the deadline set by the President to form a new government. The Balkot meeting between UML chair KP Sharma Oli and Maoist Center chair Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, among other small parties, decided to form a new coalition government under the premiership of Prachanda.

To manage the 138 number for a majority needed to form the government, small parties including Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janamat Party, Janata Samajwadi Party may also join the new alliance.

Prachanda is preparing to go to Sittal Niwas claiming to form a new coalition government.

Reports state that the two leaders agreed to Prachanda’s premiership by giving the President and speaker’s posts to the UML.

When Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba denied giving the first term of the premiership to Prachanda, the latter left the Baluatar meeting and reached Balkot, the private residence of Oli, where, the two leaders reached an agreement.
