Kathmandu, 23 December: The parties in the current alliance have not been able to endorse an agreement as NC president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Center chairman Pushpakamal Dahal wanted to become the prime minister for the first half period of parliament.
In fact, Unified Socialist chair Madhav Nepal is also eying on the PM’s post for one year by allowing Deuba and Prachanda two years’ tenure and himself becoming the PM for the remaining one year.
The crucial issue is who to become the PM for the first tenure as Deuba wants to become the PM for the first tenure by allowing Prachanda for the second term.
Accordingly, NC has claimed to keep the President’s post for the party by giving the speaker’s post to the Maoist Center.
Prachanda has also claimed the president’s post for the Maoist Center, moreover, Unified Socialist Party has also claimed the president’s post. Both Madhav Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal are eying on the President’s post.
This morning, Deuba had sent Prakashman Singh to convince Prachanda for becoming the PM in the second tenure but Prachanda denied Deuba’s proposal.
Meanwhile, Prachanda, through his contacts, has intensified contacts with the UML leaders for developing another alliance by breaking the present ruling alliance.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has given a deadline of 25 December for the parties to claim for the government but due to the dispute on power sharing, parties seem unable to meet the given deadline.
